Social Media Marketing - LinkedIn

If you are wondering what LinkedIn is, it is a social network for professionals. From its roots as a site to post resumes, it has grown into a valuable networking and research connection for businesses and professionals. Fortune 500 companies use it and most business-to-business marketers utilize it.

Search engines like LinkedIn, so your profile will be prominently displayed if you search for yourself. That preference can be a useful marketing tool.

Get LinkedIn. The first thing you will want to do is set up your profile. You will want to complete this process. Include a photograph and import your contacts. You will be able to browse your contacts' connections to find more people to connect with. Get Connected. To improve the impact of your account, be sure to expand your profile to include a feed from your blog and link to your web site. There is also the capability to embed Slideshare presentations and connect to files such as marketing kits.

Get Involved. To be effective for your business, LinkedIn should become part of your online activities. Add your LinkedIn vanity URL to your digital signature and web site. Join and participate in a group, but keep the quality of your discussion responses high and relevant. You can use the "submit new article" function on your discussion group's News page to link to new articles, blog posts or newsletters you have published.
